One dead in Horseshoe Bay townhouse fire

Sunday, Feb. 1 the Horseshoe Bay Fire Department responded to a structure fire which resulted in a fatality, officials said.

One individual was found deceased inside the residence, located at 300 Lucy Lane, according to a statement from the City of Horseshoe Bay.

“The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin,” the statement read.

The fire call went out at approximately 5:30 p.m. regarding one of the units of a townhouse complex, just off FM 2147 West. The complex and nearby residence were evacuated.

“Per protocol, the Texas State Fire Marshal’s office has been contacted, and the cause of the fire currently is under investigation,” officials said.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim during this incredibly difficult time”, says Fire Chief Doug Fowler. “This is a tragic loss for our close-knit community.”

More details were pending at press time on Monday, Feb. 2.
