The Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation board recently awarded a six-figure contract for the construction of the Falls Creek parking lot.
During the Feb. 4 meeting, the board approved an amount of no more than $472,105 for KRPS Contractors to perform work required to build the parking lot.
“They do a lot of good work for us,” EDC President Steve Reitz said. “I am anxious to move forward with them.”
Last November, KRPS submitted the lowest bid for project among 17 other sealed bid proposals, according to EDC Executive Director Christian Fletcher.
“Our team (EDC staff) is very com- fortable with them,” Fletcher said.
Also during the 30minute meeting, Fletcher reported EDC financial records show an estimated fund balance of more than $8.2 million through the finish of Fiscal Year 2026, which ends Sept. 30.
Also, Fletcher mentioned one ramp compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act is now complete at the Johnson Park softball field.
Downtown and Marketing Manager Erin Burks reported the current downtown commercial occupancy rate is 99%. “There is a waiting list,” Burks said.
Too, Burks pointed out the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 1 (most of situated in Marble Falls downtown) currently shows total revenue of more than $101 million.
“We are seeing massive numbers,” Burks said.
Numerous downtown construction projects are underway, including the installation of additional downtown lighting and pedestrian improvements to Second Street, Third Street, Main and Yett streets.
Assistant EDC Director Midge Dockery reported to date, more than 136,000 Facebook social media viewers have seen one fourminute video devoted to the Bluebonnet Café along U.S. 281.
During the near future, Dockery said, both the Texas Guide and Site Selection magazine plan to publish banner advertisements devoted to Marble Falls.
