A member of law enforcement with a keen sense of integrity and follow through has set his sights on the Republican nomination for Burnet County judge.
BCSO Chief Deputy Alan Trevino is challenging incumbent Judge Byran Wilson. Trevino offered insight about his motivation to seek the position.
Q: What inspired you to run for county judge?
What inspired you to “I have always been involved
A: "I have always been in- in the community in which I live. My wife and I moved to Burnet on June 28, 2019, and we got involved right away.
“I have also been interested and involved in politics for an exceptionally long time and knew at some point I would run for office. I genuinely want to make a positive impact in Burnet County and believe being the Burnet County Judge is the best way for me to do Why are you the “In the last 3 years,

Q: Why are you the best candidate?
A: "In the last 3 years, Burnet County has experienced significant corrosion of trust in county government due to a few of its former elected officials and a department head.
“Ethics, integrity, transparency, and open communication start at the top, and that is where I will lead from.
“I am a compassionate servant leader, and proven relationship builder.
“My leadership style is fundamentally and drastically different than my opponent. I am the candidate county employees can count on to get the job done and Burnet County citizens can trust with their tax dollars.”
Q: What are the most important issues facing the county?
A: "The most immediate issues facing this county are significant and vast and have the potential What are the most “The most immediate of literally changing the landscape of Burnet County forever.
“From the 26.9-mile quarry rail line, to the 700-acre Rock Crushing Plant on Hoover Valley Road to the Bell County East to Big Hill highvoltage, 765-kilovolt transmission line (and all that comes with it: AI data centers, BESS).
“Any of these, taken individually, is a challenge. Considering all of them combined is daunting. They will stretch our resources - water and roads - and threaten public safety and affect our economy.”
Q: What will be your What will be your Restoring trust in priorities as county judge?
A: Restoring trust in the County Judge position, not only with county employees and Burnet County residents but also with our other governmental entities (city, state and federal). To divide up the responsibilities and overwatch of county departments equally amongst all members of the commissioners court as it used to be. To work with all county elected officials and department heads in preparing a conservative and fair budget that balances the fundamental requirements of county government, public safety, and roads, with the needs of all other departments. Develop a strategic short- and long-term infrastructure plan.
Q: Describe some of the good things going on in the county now that need to be continued?
A: "Continue with the live streaming of commissioner court meetings as it has allowed significantly more Burnet County citizens to at least see and hear the proceedings.
“Possibly expand on that by considering holding some meetings after hours so more 8 to-5 working people can attend. It could be once a quarter.
“Each Elected Official and Department Head are responsible for their department and are doing an amazing job taking care of their customers.”
