Burnet County Sheriff's Office investigators are trying to determine the cause of death of a couple found unresponsive in their home in Northwest Oaks.

The investigation unfolded on Monday, Feb. 16, at their residence in the 1100 block of CR 123, just off CR 120.

“There is no threat to the public,” BCSO Capt. Mike Sorenson told The Highlander. “We don't have any reason to believe it to be a suspicious death.”

He added investigators are awaiting results of a toxicology to determine cause of death.

Authorities were contacted by family members after they had not heard from the couple for nearly a week.

“It's just a very bizarre scene,” he continued. “We're still trying to wrap our heads around it.”

Also, Sorenson added the release of the couple's names are being withheld since “all next of kin had not been notified.”

On Thursday and Friday, Feb. 19 and 20, activities on the property included unidentified individuals loading items from inside the residence into a bulk trailer.
