The candidate filing deadlines have come and gone for the May 2 general election municipal and school elections.
Today is the final day any candidate can withdraw from the eleciton.
Marble Falls
Rix C. Smith has submitted his certificate of withdrawal to the Marble Falls City Secretary’s Office.
Updated candidate filings include: City Council Place 1, Rhonda M. Brown and Mark Mayfield; Place 3, Lauren Haltom (incumbent) and Dave Rhodes; and Place 5, Richard Westerman, (incumbent).
Meadowlakes
In Meadowlakes Garrett Wood filed to run for mayor; For Place 1 Michael G.
Shaw filed for that seat; and for council member place 3, Carolyn L. Richmond filed to run for election.
Granite Shoals
In Granite Shoals, incumbent Mike Pfister, filed to try to retain his Place 2 seat; Mark Henshaw and Todd Sifleet both filed for Place 4; and incumbent Catherine Bell filed for Place 6.
Cottonwood Shores
In Cottonwood Shores, three candidates up for re-election are unopposed.
They are Place 1 Councilor Michael W.
Ritchie; Councilwoman for Place 3 Cheryl Trinidad; and Place 5 Councilman Roger Wayson.
Also, Kingsland Municipal Utility District (KMUD) has cancelled its election due to no contested races. Highland Haven has no contested races, and the City of Horseshoe Bay holds its municipal elections in November.
