Council to tee off on street golf cart rules

Council to tee off on street golf cart rules

Marble Falls City Council plans to discuss golf carts, the Manzano Mile Public Improvement District and the local emergency communication center during its upcoming meeting.

During the March 17 regular meeting, council members are set to consider a new ordinance that would allow the operation of golf carts, recreational off-highway vehicles, neighborhood electric vehicles and utility vehicles through streets designated by the ordinance.

Downtown Market- ing Manager Erin Burks and Assistant Police Chief Trish Ratliff are slated to spur discussion related to how and where such vehicles could be driven on public streets and what safety rules city officials would invoke.

Also during the meeting, the council plans to consider the Manzano Mile Public Improvement District property tax bills, including the method of assessment and penalties on delinquent assessments within the district, including the Highlands subdivision and the Improvement District Area No.1.

Too, the council will consider development of a “Strategic Growth Concept Plan” for the Highland Lakes Regional Emergency Communication Center (HLRECC) which facilitates emergency dispatch services for Marble Falls and several nearby communities.

HLRECC Director Stacy Baker is scheduled to lead the discussion.

The meeting time is 6 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, in city hall chambers, 800 Third St. in Marble Falls.
