The Falls on the Colorado Museum’s Annual Meeting at 10:30 a.m. April 18 includes a special presentation on historical mining in Burnet County. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Local historian Bob Kent will provide an overview of historic lead, silver, graphite, and copper mines and current mining operations.

“The presentation explores topics such as the Granite Mountain quarry, Southwest Graphite Mine, Sheridan Copper Mine, Pure Stone/Huber Mine, and the Barringer Hill rare earth deposit – now beneath Lake Buchanan,” Board Chairman Darlene Oostermeyer said. “It offers a preview of the exciting new mining exhibit currently being developed for our second- floor expansion.”
