A local aggregate company wants to expand its operations and awaits a greenlight from the state to do so.
"The amendment will authorize an increase in operating hours, an increase in annual production based on the new operating hours, the addition of three material stockpiles, updates to the process of fugitive emission factors to match published U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and TCEQ guidance, a reduction in the number of active days for two existing material stockpiles and a reduction in the max -
imum exhaust flow rate from the finished prod uct tank dust collector to match the manufacturer conditions,” according to the summary of the pending request.
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) officials plan to hold a public meeting related to Huber Carbonates LLC and the aggregate company's amendment and renewal of a permit application awaiting approval.
The meeting is sched - uled at 7 p.m. May 7 at the Marble Falls High School Max Copeland Gym, 2101 Mustang Drive.
Huber operates a facility on Avenue N and a mining site on U.S. 281, both within the Marble Falls city limits.
According to the application forwarded to TCEQ, Huber requested a new permit to increase emissions of particulate matter from 2.45 tons per year to 10.54 tons per year, also to raise emissions of particulate matter less than or equal to 10 micrometers from 1.90 tons per year to 6.26 tons per year.
A plant official in - formed Marble Falls City Council of the Huber’s request to raise emissions 12 months ago, assuring councilors the aggregate compa ny intends to be a good neighbor.
However, the council forwarded a protest to TCEQ officials.
