Police chief selection to inspire trust, collaboration

The City of Marble Falls announces the upcoming transition in leadership of the Marble Falls Police Department, as Chief Glenn Hanson prepares to step down after more than 23 years of dedicated service to the community. Assistant Chief Trisha Ratliff has been selected to serve as the City’s next Chief of Police, with the transition effective June 29, 2026.

Chief Hanson’s tenure has been marked by a steadfast commitment to public safety and community partnership. Among his many contributions, he played a key role in implementing the School Resource Officer program, strengthening the relationship between law enforcement and local schools while enhancing campus safety for students and staff.

“Serving the Marble Falls community has been the honor of a lifetime,” said Chief Hanson. “I am proud of the work our department has accomplished together, and I have full confi dence in Assistant Chief Ratliff’s leadership as she takes the department into its next chapter.”

Assistant Chief Ratliff brings extensive experience in law enforcement operations and emergency management. Throughout her career, she has played a key role in coordinating responses to complex incidents and supporting the City through challenging situations. Her leadership has consistently strengthened collaboration, preparedness, and the department’s ability to effectively serve and protect the community.

As she steps into the role of Chief, Ratliff has identified key priorities for her first 120 days, includ ing reinforcing internal trust, strengthening communication and executive accountability, improving staffing alignment, and ad vancing measurable operational oversight. She will also support the continued development of facility and technology planning initiatives designed to improve efficiency and deliver long-term cost savings for taxpayers, while ensuring the department’s execution aligns with budget priorities, City goals, and Marble Falls’ continued growth.

“I am honored to serve the Marble Falls community in this new capacity,” said Ratliff. “Our department is built on a strong foundation, and I look forward to working alongside our officers, staff, and com munity partners to continue delivering professional, responsive, and accountable policing.”

City Manager Caleb Kraenzel recognized both leaders for their service and commitment to the City. “Chief Hanson’s leadership has left a lasting impact on Marble Falls, and we are grateful for his more than two decades of service,” said Kraenzel. “Assistant Chief Ratliff has demonstrated exceptional leadership and operational expertise, and we are con- fident she will continue to move the department forward in alignment with the City’s vision.”

Mayor John Packer also expressed his support for the transition. “Chief Hanson has served this community with integrity and dedication, and we thank him for his years of leadership,” said Mayor Packer. “We are equally con- fident in Assistant Chief Ratliff’s ability to lead the department into the future while maintaining the high standards our community expects.”

The City of Marble Falls extends its sincere appreciation to Chief Hanson for his years of service and looks forward to the continued leadership of Chief-designate Ratliff.
