City of Marble Falls celebrated the opening of Mormon Mill Nature Park May 1, marking the completion of a long-anticipated neighborhood park project.

Located at the corner of Park Ridge Drive and Park View Drive, the park was designed to provide an accessible outdoor space while preserving the natural character of the site.

Mormon Mill Nature Park features approximately half a mile of walking trail, a restroom facility, covered picnic areas, and nature-themed playground elements. The park intentionally emphasizes open space and a quieter, more natural setting, offering a different experience from more traditional, amenity-heavy parks.

The project was identified through multiple planning efforts over the years and moved into design in 2022, following direction from City leadership.

After public input, design workshops, and coordination with the Parks and Recreation Commission, the project received funding support through a Texas Parks and Wildlife Local Park Grant in 2024, alongside City investment. Construction began in January 2025.

“This project reflects how we approach park development in Marble Falls,” said City Manager Caleb Kraenzel. “There was a clear vision to create something that fits the character of the area while still delivering a quality public space. It took coordination, persistence, and strong partnerships to get here, and we’re proud of the result.”

Parks and Recreation Director Lacey Dingman emphasized the intentional design approach behind the project.

“From the beginning, this wasn’t meant to be a traditional park,” Dingman said. “We focused on creating something that feels natural and intentional. We kept the open space, worked around the seasonal pond, and limited development to what was necessary to make the park usable without taking away from what makes the site unique.”

City officials also recognized the contributions of past and present City Council members and the Parks and Recreation Commission for their role in advancing the project through planning and design.

Mormon Mill Nature Park is now open to the public.
