Horseshoe Bay police chief search underway

The City of Horseshoe Bay has launched a search for a new police chief.

Former chief Jason Graham resigned in April. Graham had served as chief since 2024 and worked for the agency for over 25 years.

Assistant Chief Paul Nelson was tapped to serve as acting police chief.

During its regular May meeting, the council authorized the City Manager Jeff Koska to work with the Texas Police Chiefs Association “to conduct an organizational assessment, provide leadership transition support services, and conduct a candidate search and an onboarding and first year recommended evaluation process for the position…” “[A]candidate selection recommendation (is expected) to be brought forward to the City Council for approval, for an amount not to exceed $22,000,” according to Communications Director Cindee Sharp.”

According to the city website, “the chief of police must meet all training and educational requirements as set forth by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). He/she must also be a State of Texas licensed Peace Officer and continue to maintain TCOLE annual in-service continuing education hours.”
