State authorities located a man found dead in Granite Shoals, who was wanted for questioning in a homicide investigation in San Antonio.
On June 17, a Texas Department of Public Safety special forces unit dispatched personnel and militarized equipment to a home on Oxbow Trail. Granite Shoals is 93 miles northwest of San Antonio.
According to reports from family members, law enforcement tracked the 65-year-old man to a backyard studio on the property.
Witnesses confirmed that authorities used tear gas and then broke down the wall of the studio, where the man was located inside.
In a news conference, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar confirmed the suspect located by DPS was found dead.
According to Bex- ar County officials, he was first identified as "a person of interest” following a “disturbance” on June 16 in the 7900 block of Cactus Plum in San Antonio.
At that time, investigators launched an investigation into the shooting death of a 22-year-old man and an “seriously injured” woman in her 60s. Her identification is pending.
Texas Rangers have responded to investigate the suspect’s death in Burnet County.
The identification of the victim of the homicide is pending from the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.
