Friday nights are quickly becoming the place to be in Marble Falls.
The Marble Falls Summer Concert Series returned to Johnson Park for another season, and if last Friday’s crowd was any indication, word is definitely getting around.
With comfortable temperatures and a breeze coming off the lake, concertgoers arrived by golf cart, car, foot, and even by boat to claim their favorite spots for an evening of free entertainment.
The grassy hillside overlooking Lake Mar- ble Falls filled with lawn chairs and blankets while boats anchored just offshore, giving their pas- sengers a floating front- row seat.
Tyler Hodgson and band opened the evening before headliner Derek Spence, A Tribute to the King, took the stage.
As Elvis classics rang out across the park, audience members sang along and danced while others simply relaxed and enjoyed a beautiful Hill Country evening.
The King always seems to attract a crowd, especially the ladies. Jordan Barnhart and her group of bachelorettes decided there was no better way to celebrate than Marble Falls style, adding extra energy and plenty of smiles to the evening.
One of the best things about the Summer Concert Series is that every concert develops its own personality. Some people gather with neighbors, others bring dinner or take advantage of the food vendors, and many make an entire evening out of exploring downtown before heading to the park.
The atmosphere is casual, welcoming, and uniquely Marble Falls.
The concerts are free, family friendly, and offer one of the best views around.
If you’ve missed the first two concerts, don't worry, there’s still plenty of summer left.
Tonight, Friday, June 19, Departure ATX will take the stage, bringing another opportunity to gather with friends, spread out a blanket, and enjoy an evening outdoors.
The rest of the schedule includes: June 26, Los Rangerz; July 3, John Arthur Martinez; July 4, Dysfunkshun Junkshun; July 10, Sammy Arriaga; July 17, Desert Highway; July 24, Suede; and July 31, Josh Ward.
Also, the series will offer “Treats and Eats” each evening during the series. Plus, fireworks are set go off the evening of July 4 at the park.
So, grab your lawn chairs, invite a few friends, and make plans to come out. With several concerts still ahead, Marble Falls is turning Friday nights into one of the best ways to kick off the weekend all summer long.
