This weekend, July 19 and 20, visitors and locals alike will descend on a little arena south of town for one big rodeo.
The annual Marble Falls Rodeo is produced by Cadillac Rodeo with Johnny Hoyle in partnership with the Marble Falls Rodeo Association at the Charley Taylor Arena, U.S. 281 South. Participants in the Youth Rodeo competed on Wednesday, July 17 (See photos on Page 3).
Qualifying heats were Thursday, Slack Night, when riders qualified to advance to the competitions tonight and Saturday.
Tonight and Saturday, the 19th and 20th, the gates open at 6:30 p.m.
There will be two heats for Mutton Bustin’ on Friday and Saturday nights. The child must be between 4 and 7 years old and under 60 lbs. (to protect the sheep). The two winners can win a free pair of boots from Blair’s Western Wear.
The rodeo begins each night at 8 p.m.
Live music is scheduled for each night as well after bull riding. Southern Underground plays Friday night and Adam Fears Band will play on Saturday.
Tickets can be purchased online or cash (only) at the gate – $20 per person; $15 ages 7-15; free for ages 6 and under. admission covers the dance (BYOB). The rodeo has called a Pink Out for Friday night – support Breast Cancer Awareness by sporting your favorite pink. First responder teams will also participate in goodhumored steer saddling.
The Marble Falls Rodeo Association was established in 1957. The organization, a well established and vital part of business and social life in Marble Falls, supports rodeo athletes, promotes rodeo activities and is dedicated to preserving the tradition of rodeo in the local community.
