Christine Carol was welcomed with love by parents Patricia and Charles (Chuck) Bard on Oct. 14, 1970, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She grew up with many wonderful friends in Grandville and Rochester Hills, Michigan. It was there that her enthusiastic nature developed and love of music began — including teaching and tutoring piano.

She is survived by parents Pat and Chuck of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, an amazing brother, Charles P. Bard and wife Laura in Manvel, Texas, as well as the two treasures of her life, nephews Evan Charles and Liam Patrick, who is also her godson. Also surviving her are “Aunt Sue” Fleming of Ahwatukee, Arizona, and her daughter, Karyn Rau (Jeff). Other family members are an uncle, Theodore H. Fleming and his wife, Marcia of Tucson, Arizona, their daughter Cara (Fred) and son, Michael (Melanie). As well Chris had a special friend, Glen Geist of Chicago, with whom she shared many fond memories.

Christine graduated from Michigan State University with a BA degree, from Rutgers University with a Masters Degree in Education and from Penn State University with a PhD. in Counseling Psychology/Rehabilitative Counseling. Her subsequent career has been spent in Chicago teaching and mentoring higher education students as well as developing and directing programs to help those with a range of rehabilitation needs. Students and associates bear witness to her devotion and contribution in these areas with overwhelming praise.

Christine is special!
