The 16th Annual Faith Academy Gala was held Saturday, Jan. 27, and supporters again topped $300,000 in donations during the event.

As of Monday, Jan. 29, the total was $325,000 and donations and pledges were continuing to arrive.

Stuart Nunnally, DDS, founder and chairman of the board expressed his gratitude to benefactors who have supported the school from its beginnings in 1998. The gala alone now has contributed contributed some $2.5 million.

“Some of our most successful students have attended Faith Academy on scholarships you provided,” he said. “We have high hopes for a dyslexia program you are helping to fund.”

Nunnally did not overlook the single gift from a Horseshoe Bay couple that will serve as a “cornerstone” of a fund for the first phase of a $5.9 million athletic complex expansion program, beginning this year with a football field and parking area to serve it.

“We raised $44,500 for the Dyslexia Program Fund, with an additional $1,100 donated to it on Friday before the gala giving us a balance of $45,600 to launch,” said Donna Holland Wilcox, mistress of ceremonies for the event.

The 2018 event was held at Escondido Golf & Lake Club with Trey Poage returning as auctioneer for the live auction.

Top draw at the auction was $13,000 for a private dinner for 50 at the Rocky Top Ranch Moon Hall with entertainment by John Arthur Martinez, Kurt Baumer and Rodney Howell. It was donated by the Blue Bonnet Cafe and Stuart and Rebecca Nunnally.

A Drew Brees Trip Package went for $6,000 and a Dove Hunt on Evans Ranch in San Saba, donated by Sid and Chrysti Evans, brought in $5,500.

The ever-popular Blinky Ring Heads or Tails Game raised $7,550. Megan Nunnally was the winner of the prize for the game, a diamond, gold and sterling silver Vahan Braclet sponsored by Salem's Jewlery.
