Virginia Ruth (Phelps) Wolfe

Virginia Ruth (Phelps) Wolfe passed away on Feb. 3, 2018. She was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, on July 14, 1931, to Roy and Florence (Seaton) Phelps.

She married John W. Wolfe Jr. in 1950. With John’s employment with Conoco (Continental Oil Company), they lived in Oklahoma, California, New Mexico, Wyoming, Louisiana, and Texas. Upon John’s retirement, they moved to Horseshoe Bay, Texas. John and Virginia were married almost 60 years and upon his passing in 2010, she moved to Gateway Gardens in Marble Falls, Texas.

She enjoyed caring for her family, being involved in church activities, waterskiing, and dancing the night away with John. She enjoyed fitness classes and the company of her close friends, and always loved a good party. Virginia also enjoyed various vacations, including their annual trip to Hawaii and Caribbean cruises.

She is survived by her sons Stan (Jody) of Gillette, Wyoming, and David (Dee) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren John (Anna) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jacob of Houston, Texas, and Alexander (Madison) of Lewisville, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Bill (Susie) Phelps, of Farmers Branch, Texas, and sisters, Katherine Johnson, of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Martha (Paul) Cohen, of Woodland Hills, California.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Church at Horseshoe Bay and Seton Highland Lakes Hospice of Burnet, Texas.

The family is grateful for and extends a special thank you to the staff of Gateway Gardens, her caregivers, Dona, Judy, and numerous others. A special thank you to Pam Ochoa of Seton Highland Lakes Hospice and the physicians in Marble Falls and Burnet through the years.
