Joel Dee Houston (Cotton) passed away in Marble Falls on Thursday, June 16, 2016.
He was born on Feb. 27, 1935 in Levelland, Texas to Robert Lee Houston and Lydia Leona Gaither.
Joel was proceeded in death by his wife of 51 years Bessie Mae Houston and his son Jay Houston.
He is survived by his daughter Tonya Houston; grandchildren Michael Bloom, Cutter Schaney, Cory Houston and Haley Houston; great-grandchildren Rian Jo Bloom and Maverik Bloom and brother Robert Houston.
A memorial for Joel will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 2702 Mormon Mill Road, Marble Falls, Texas, 78654.

Billie Frances Jowell Jeanes passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2016, at the age of 87.

Billie was born to parents Oma Frances Glover Jowell and William Earl Jowell in Mexia, Texas, on Oct. 23, 1928.

She was blessed with two loving sisters, Patsy Ruth and Johnnie Sue.

Her father worked for Magnolia Oil Company and was transferred to Freer, Texas, where Billie attended school until World War II broke out.

She and her family then moved to Houston, Texas.

Billie grew up in Houston and graduated from Sam Houston High School.

She was a woman of extra ordinary musical talent.

Billie was majorette with the Sam Houston High School Band.

She could twirl three batons at one time.

In her senior year she was First Lieutenant in the band.

She was elected Sam Houston’s most beautiful girl. She was class editor of the Cosmos, the high school’s newspaper.

Ava Nell Turner Cheek passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016 in Covington, Louisiana.
She was born on Aug. 9, 1924 in Lamesa to the late Austin Leslie Turner, Sr. and Virginia Rose Moffat Turner.
Ava is survived by her beloved husband, Clyde S. Cheek, and their two children, Karen C. Landers of Mandeville, Louisiana, and Terry T. Cheek of Colleyville, Texas.
She was the loving grandmother of Matthew M. Landers of Madisonville, Louisiana, Casey L. Landers of Houston, and Daniel P. Cheek of Rosenburg, Texas.
Ava was the proud great-grandmother of Carter Landers, Reese Landers, Aiden Cheek, Carrington Cheek, and Riley Cheek.
She was the sister of the late Austin L. Turner, Jr. Ava is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mildrena Eva Shields Bracksieck took her last breath on earth Friday, June 10, 2016 in Lakeway, Texas.  She follows her beloved husband, Charles Edward Bracksieck who passed on Feb. 20, 1999.  Mildrena was affectionately known as “Drena” by so many. 
Drena was born on Sept. 30, 1927 to Milton Allen and Vera Rowena Fountain Shields in Elsa, Texas.   Drena was the middle of three children, Milton Allen Shields, Jr.; older brother and Loretta Shield Ewart, younger sister both deceased.
Throughout her youth, Drena was actively involved with her church, her school, and her community.

Peggy Mayes Edwards of Granite Shoals, Texas, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 5, 2016. 
She was born in Beeville, Texas on May 14, 1948 to Aubrey and Frances Mayes. 
She was the only daughter with three brothers; Jack, Russell and Forrest.
Peggy was a hard worker who loved everyone, especially children. 
She volunteered regularly at Joseph’s Pantry, retired from the Public Works Department of the City of Marble Falls, was on the Granite Shoals City Council. 
She survived several bouts with cancer, enjoyed spending time with her woman’s club, coached soccer and she loved cheering at all ball games.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents.

Dorothy Gilson of Marble Falls passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at her residence at the Arbor House.
Dorothy was born on Dec. 28, 1922 to Arthur Olson and Helen Knopp Olson in Des Moines, Iowa and was the third of four children.
She moved to Perry, Iowa as a young child and lived there until joining the Foreign Service after high school.  
She worked at the Pentagon and in Germany before moving to Houston, Texas, where her sister Mildred was living at the time, and which became her home for the next 60+ years.  
It was there that she met her husband Harold Edwin Gilson Sr., raised her two children, and made many life-long friends. 
Dorothy had a big personality and a hearty laugh!

Glenn A. Crews
Glenn A. Crews, 79, the gentle giant and longtime resident of Buchanan Dam has been called by the Lord to rest in peace.
He died peacefully at home after a strong battle against cancer.
He was born in Eastland, Texas on March 18, 1937.
His parents were Clarence and Cecil (Seale) Crews.
Glenn worked for Phillips Food Mart in Buchanan Dam and for Bill Smith Propane in Marble Falls.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Ciscie Cox Crews; son, Terry Crews and his wife Susie; two grandsons, Ethan and Ryder Crews; daughter, Dondi Crews Lehmann and her husband, Terry; grandsons, Skyler Jayroe, J.T. Jayroe, Josh Jayroe; step-children, Jamie and Jayson Cox; step granddaughters, Breanna and Madison Cox, and two great-grandchildren; sister Audrey Wendell.
Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

William Myrl Hart passed awayFriday, June 3, 2016. 
He was born in Loraine, Texas in to Chester and Martha LeFevre Hart on May 26, 1929.
William was a graduate of John Tarlton Junior College, Baylor University, Baylor School of Dentistry and University of Illinois. 
He moved to Corpus Christi from Chicago in 1958 where he practiced Orthodontics until 1985. He was in the Air Force from 1951 through 1958. 
William directed the Meals-On-Wheels program in Marble Falls for seven years. 
He was a pilot, enjoyed farming and going on Dental Mission work trips in Mexico during the 70’s.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Hart.

Wig B. DeMoville, age 73, passed away at his home in Kingsland Wednesday, June 1, 2016.  
He was born June 2, 1942, in Gatesville to William Beville  DeMoville and Sara Wiggins DeMoville.  
Wig earned his PhD in accounting from Texas Tech University and taught accounting at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Texas Tech University at Lubbock, Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas A&M University at Laredo and the University of Texas Pan American where he retired.  
He was married to Gail King May 26, 1962, in San Angelo.  
Wig was a member of the Bah`a’i Faith.

Edna Earle Perry Taylor, 90, of Marble Falls, Texas, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, following a brief illness. 
She was born in Liberty Hill, Texas, a fifth generation Texas, on Nov. 24, 1925.
She is survived by son, Phil Taylor and wife Mary Kay of Hideaway, Texas; daughter LaJuan “Lou” Burriss and husband George, of Kingsland, Texas, as well as seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Weldon Taylor and son, Dr. Jim Taylor.
She was a quiet person, very gentle and kind. 
She was a friend to everyone and her concern for others was touching. 
She wanted family close by. 
We know she’s in heaven and we will miss her smiling face, but we rejoice and we are glad she’s in that wonderful place.
