Organizers are saying a patriotic rally to be held on the 19th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks is meant to be a non-politicial and nonpartisan remembrance of those who died as well as a rally in support of the American flag.

Lori Greco is putting together the “For God & Country American Patriotic Rally,” which will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at the intersection of US 281 and Texas 29 in Burnet.

Greco said face coverings and social distancing will be required as per Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive orders regarding public settings and those unable to stand or wear a face covering as asked to “please use your vehicles patriotically … flags, streamers, sickers driving in the right-hand lanes.”

The event will feature patriotic music and “proud Americans waving their American, Texas, religious and even Betsy Ross flags from the sidewalks and grassy areas in a boost that we all need right now,” Greco said.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own flags, water, snacks, chairs and shade and to not stand in or block driveways or impede traffic or business, Greco said.

Sept. 11 marks the 19th anniversary of the 2001 crashes and terror attacks on the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and a fourth failed attempt which resulted in the crash of United Flight 93 in Pennsylvania due to the heroic actions of the crew and passengers to fight back against the hijackers.
