Benjamin Todd Huselton, currently of Austin, quietly slipped away from his earthly life on February 7, 2021 in Austin, Texas.

He was born October 13, 1975 to Patrick and Susan Glover Huselton. Ben spent his early life in Saudi Arabia, his formative years in Marble Falls, graduating from Marble Falls High School in 1993. He lived in multiple cities: New York, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Miami, and ultimately, back to Austin. As a young man, he loved the central Texas lakes, skateboarding, his mother, and a good punk rock concert.

There was a group of friends with whom Ben remained close his entire life. Clayton Counts, at peace with Ben, Gene Catt, Steve Graham, Josh Jacobs, Kevin Sawyer, Talley Spiller, and Bret VanVorhees were all his closest friends and brothers.

Ben’s life passion was a culinary pursuit. He studied pastry, classic French cuisine, and graduated from the French Culinary Institute in New York City in 2005. Ben was known to those in the service industry as Chef Ben or “Chilly,” due to his constant joke about the walkin-cooler being chilly, and his cool, calm demeanor. He was at his best and happiest when he was creating a new menu or executing a new dish.

He shared his expertise at several fine restaurants including his first sous chef position at Sullivan’s Steakhouse, Kenichi, Paggi House, Burke and Donatella, Compass Rose, and many others. Ben had a gentle and kind spirit, an unassuming kindness, the most infectious laugh, and will be deeply missed.

Ben was preceded in death by his beloved mother Susie Glover Pearce; his maternal grandparents William and Maxine Glover; paternal grandparents Joe and Betty Lou Huselton; and Uncle Michael Huselton.

To cherish his memory, Ben leaves behind his father Pat Huselton; stepfather Paul L. Pearce; stepmother Rebecca Leita; half-sisters Amber Jo Alegria and Kristen Rae Huselton and families; stepsister Pam Pond and family: Bill, Kelsey, Riley, Zachary, Debbie, Camden and Wyatt; aunts Becky Topper and Lisa Jo Perdue; uncle Donnie Huselton; aunt Ann Conley and family Dennis, Keith, Jessica, and Tiffany; great aunt Violet Carde; numerous loving cousins and many more dear friends who loved him than we can name, but please know that you are acknowledged; and his beloved four legged “son” Miles.

We will honor Ben with a Celebration of Life on March 27 at 2 p.m. in Marble Falls, Texas. Please check his Facebook page or reach out to family and friends for the exact location. It will be outdoors, and we would ask that all participants wear masks.
