Body

Ellen Jean (”Jeannie") Snowden passed peacefully to her heavenly home on December 3, 2020. She was born on November 3, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Roy C and Melba Mae Hormberg. She was preceded in death by her dear husband Kenneth in 2014 and anxiously awaited their reunion in heaven.

Jeannie led a fascinating life and traveled to many countries both for travel and for mission work with her beloved Ken and Texas Baptist Men. She was a gifted artist who worked and drew for Hallmark and later lent her administrative gifts to Army Airforce Exchange where she retired.

She had a variety of hobbies including painting, crocheting, sewing and scrapbooking and even tried indoor skydiving at the age of 76. Some of our fondest memories of Jeannie began with her saying, “You’ll never guess what I did....”And we usually couldn’t.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Earl Charles Hormburg and husband, Kenneth Snowden. She is survived by her stepdaughter Marla Sanders, stepson Monty Snowden, sister-in-law Rosalie Hormberg, several grandchildren, friends (her “non-biological children”) Chad and Annabel Nelson and many other dear friends.

Jeannie donated her body to science and asked for no memorial service. In lieu of any memorial, we would ask that people wanting to honor Jeannie’s memory make a donation to Texas Baptist Men or First Baptist Church of Burnet.
