The Kingsland House of Arts & Crafts presents our featured crafter of the month, Mary Hayes. Mary is displaying one of her aprons. She also has senior aprons and other home decor from fabric. Visit the house at 112 Chamberlain (blue building behind Wells Fargo Bank) to purchase her items as well as the handmade crafts of all our members. Our hours are 10am to 5pm Friday through Monday. Llano Co. libraries temporarily limit online access

Llano County’s Library Advisory Board will ask county commissioners to dump the OverDrive system of electronic books and other items, substituting one called Bibliotheca instead. The decision came at the board’s meeting Thursday, Feb. 17, attended by nine in the audience, fewer than half those who attended the board’s January meeting in Kingsland.

Store chain TXB donates to local CASA

Convenience store chain TXB, in partnership with sister company McCraw Oil, donated $8,000 to CASA for the Highland Lakes as a result of its 25th annual Doyce Taylor Memorial Golf & Fishing Tournament fundraiser earlier this year. This year’s tournament raised a total of $60,000 for local CASA chapters, bringing the grand donation total after 13 years to $682,000. LCRA ends dig site agreement

A 28-year partnership has come to an end between the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and the Llano Uplift Archeological Society (LUAS) as the two entities failed to come to an agreement on stipulations for continued oversight of an archeological research center in Kingsland.

LCRA to eye stricter commercial dredging regulations

Commercial dredging operations could change the landscape of the Highland Lakes, but not without entities tasked with regulating them hearing from and responding to all sides of the issue. The Lower Colorado River Authority made a few tweaks to its proposed Highland Lake Dredge and Fill Ordinance in recent weeks, as they continue to sift and publicly respond to community input and comments.

Llano County to hold bulk waste collection

Llano County, along with other area entities, will host a residential bulk collection event on Satuday, Oct. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon (or until full) at the Llano County Annex. The collection is open to all Llano County residents, Kingsland Municipal Utility District members and Kingsland Water Supply Corp. members. Accepted items Accepted items include:
