LEAF canceled for 2021

Autumn may be a week away, but one well-beloved LEAF already has fallen. Officials with the Llano Earth Art Festival (LEAF) announced there will not be an on-premises, in-person LEAF on the bank of the Llano River at Grenwelge Park in Llano in March 2021 due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Authorities investigate separate drownings in two days

Game wardens and Horseshoe Bay police officials are investigating two fatalities which occurred within days of each other on Llano County waterways. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) investigators have determined an incident on the Llano River to be an "accidental drowning," while police continue to sift through clues connected to a body found floating in Lake LBJ in Horseshoe Bay.

Early voting June 29 for runoffs

Early voting for the Republican and Democratic primaries begins Monday, June 29, as Llano County GOP voters will decide on a new justice of the peace for Precinct 3 as well as the Republican nominee for District 5 in the State Board of Education. On the Democratic side, voters in both Llano and Burnet counties will determine nominees for the Senate and Texas Railroad Commissioner races. In Llano County, incumbent appointed Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Debra (Deb) Edwards is running for election to an unexpired term and will face off against Dorothy “Dot” Wooten in the runoff.
