Crews will be accepting not only household hazardous chemicals but also tires, batteries, electronics, and both latex and oil-based paints.

Llano County has set its annual residential bulk collection event for Saturday, Oct. 8, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Llano County East Annex, 8347 Ranch Road 1431.

Items such as electronics, motor oil, batteries, unopened latex paint and television sets will be accepted. Tires up to 20 inches in rim size (but no rims) will be accepted; up to 10 tires will be taken free but a $1 per tire fee will be charged for each tire over 10.

The event is not intended for industrial items. Chemicals, explosives or ammunition, medical items, compressed gas cylinders, any items labeled “caution,” “warning” or “poison,” petroleum based paints and construction debris will be turned away.

“Absolutely no household trash” will be accepted, event backers said.

A limited number of bulk items such as couches, mattresses or stoves will be accepted.

Llano County Precinct 2 Commissioner Linda Raschke, who is serving on the bulk trash committee for the 14th year, said she expects the event to be brisk.

“This post-pandemic collection event should see a good number of people come out,” Raschke said.
