Wanda Jean Walker, 64, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021. Born March 18, 1956, in her family home in Marble Falls Texas to Lillie Wanda Wimberley-Jackson and Floyd Hunziker, Wanda Jean was one of 6 children and was preceded by her parents and one infant sibling.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Eddie G Walker; daughter, Wende Morren and husband Mark of Marble Falls, Texas; grandchildren, Zachary Morren and wife Journey of Marble Falls and Madison; siblings, Travis “Sonny”Jackson and wife Sue of Yellville Arkansas, James Henry Jackson and wife Jane of Marble Falls, Inez “Liz” Marx of Burnet, Texas, and Donald of Bee Caves; and great granddaughters Stella and Scarlett Morren and Ray Jackson of Marble Falls.

Although Wanda Jean traveled with her husband Eddie while he served in the US Army and later with Western Oil Company, she left part of her heart in her beloved home of Marble Falls, Texas.

She was very proud patriot, and with good reason, as she is a descendent of those who fought for America’s freedom. Wanda Jean’s family settled Cow Creek/Smithwick area in the 1850s. Because of her family history dating back to America’s earliest days, she held all of those who served our great nation in the highest regard and she would’ve given her last penny to a veteran in need.

Wanda Jean made Texas Granite history by being the second woman ever hired to work in the plant. She ran a drill that drilled holes in granite that adorns buildings all over Texas. For the later 15 years, Wanda Jean and her husband delivered mail, and if she wasn’t making goodies for family, it was for her coworkers. Another joy of Wanda Jean’s were the precious souls of two fur babies she and Eddie rescued while out running their mail route. She was a self taught seamstress and specifically loved making toddler cloths and baby quilts. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Our family motto has always been to remember that “of all of the things acquired while on this earth it is our relationships that we take to heaven.”

We will have a celebration of Wanda Jean‘s life on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the Westside Park Community Center, 1704 2nd St., Marble Falls, Texas, from noon to 4 p.m.
