Ida Lou Carter, 92, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and community mentor, passed away on July 22, 2025. Born in Vernon, Texas on October 16, 1932, Ida found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
As a devoted mother of three, grandmother of five, and great-grandmother of six, Ida was the cornerstone of the Carter family. Ida’s hospitality and sage advice were uniquely hers. She was lovingly direct, deeply welcoming and kind to everyone she met.
In her role as a community leader, Ida served on the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). As an LCRA Board Member, she brought her pioneering spirit to the forefront, ensuring that Texas remained true to its roots while also embracing the future.
Ida is survived by her husband Jim, their children Jim Ann, Craig, and Karen, her grandchildren Benjamin and Ashley Carter, Cameron and Amy Carter, Linden Carter, Benjamin Ellet-Kinslow, and Luke Ellet, and her greatgrandchildren Ephram, Asher, Eden, Canon, Ellie, and Luke. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2 at First Baptist Church of Marble Falls to celebrate Ida’s life graduation so that she can prepare the way for generations to come.
