Don Holland, age 85, of Marble Falls, Texas, passed peacefully away on August 25, 2025.

Don was born on August 15, 1940, to Malcolm and Louise Holland in a granite house in Marble Falls. His uncle Alfred Fraiser remembers seeing him about an hour old, when his parents moved a bed near the kitchen, where he was snuggled in a blanket in his mother’s arms.

Born fifth generation into a frontier family, Don worked the land and helped to provide for his family at an early age. In 1947, his parents purchased a ranch on Hamilton Creek, where they raised livestock and harvested pecans. He often referenced the responsibilities he had as a youth, including operating farm equipment, buying and using dynamite for fence building, and hauling household water. On foot, he would travel for miles around Hamilton Creek, Mormon Mill, Smithwick, and Marble Falls, hunting, fishing, and working.

One of the highlights of Don’s life was playing football for the MF Mustangs. In 1957, he earned a position on the All-Central Texas Football Team as an offensive tackle and a football scholarship to Southwest Texas State University. However, instead of pursuing collegiate athletics, he joined the United States Navy. He entered as a Signal Man aboard the USS Ranger, Comcardiv, Fletc, and the USS Tinconderoga in the Pacific before entering Submarine School to serve another two years on the USS Harder. Upon returning home to Marble Falls, Don worked as an accountant and land manager at Texas Granite Corporation before owning and operating small businesses. He also continued his family heritage of farming and ranching.

Don was a man of his word, with deep convictions. He cared for and loved his family, often putting their needs above his own. He was a minimalist and had little tolerance for wastefulness. He was a teacher and a mentor to those around him, and he always had a plan or project he was pursuing. His quiet faith in the Lord Jesus was strong, and he shared intimate details with his family as he looked forward to entering Heaven’s gate.

He is survived by his children, Donna Holland Wilcox and Brad Wilcox, Meredith Holland Clowdus and Canyon Clowdus, Todd Holland and Christina Holland; grandchildren, Stralen Holland Clowdus, Sterling Clowdus, Saige Clowdus, Christian Wilcox, Ethan Holland, and Emily Holland; his sister, Lou Ann Holland; his nieces and nephews, Jacqueline Stubbs Lewis, Evan Stubbs, and their spouses and children; his uncle, Alfred Fraiser, and his children; and many cousins in the Central Texas area. He is preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm Franklin Holland and Lura Louise Fraiser Holland, and his brother, James Harvey Holland.

The family extends a special thank you to the BS&W Medical Center-Lakeway fifth-floor doctors and nurses for their compassion and integrity in caring for Don in his last days. Visitation was held Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, Marble Falls, Texas. A Chapel Service for Don will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery Chapel, 1741 E FM 1431, Marble Falls, Texas. He will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family invites you to a Life Celebration Reception at the Chapel following the graveside service. The family wishes for those who attend the services at Pleasant Valley Cemetery to wear casual, cool, and comfortable clothing.
