Nita Ruth (Lyda) Proffitt
Nita Ruth (Lyda) Proffitt

“Well done, good and faithful servant...enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” Matt. 25:21.
Nita was born June 28, 1933, and passed to her reward September 10, 2025, having lived and taught through her actions, the ways of a faithful servant to her Lord, her family, and her fellow man. Her kindness, hard work and fortitude inspired many yet she always strove to do more.
Born as a classic depression-era child, experiencing the depravations of tragic loss, she was bolstered by the unwavering love and devotion of extended family, friends, and neighbors. She spent her adult life repaying those kindnesses to anyone who needed a helping hand.
She was married to Kenneth Proffitt and had three children.
They operated a farm and ranch as well as a successful air conditioning and heating company. Many people in the community remember Proffitt’s Peaches as a necessary indulgence of every hill country summer.
Her son, Ken, preceded her in death. She is survived by his wife, Vana, and their daughters and sons-in-law; Lacey, Valerie and Jason, and Whitney and Andrew and her great-grandchildren, Rayleigh, Kennedy, Bethany, Jarrett, Anderson, August, and Aven. Nita is also survived by her daughters and son-in-law; Diane and Susan and Kevin, and their two sons, Collin and Grayson.
In lieu of flowers, Nita’s request was for donations to be sent to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be made at: www.clementswilcoxfuneralhome. com
