Michael “Mike” Swartzel
Michael “Mike” Swartzel
Michael Eugene Swartzel (better known as Mike) passed away peacefully on January 27 in Spicewood, TX. He was born on July 13, 1941, in Mansfield, Ohio, where he lived until graduating from Kent State University in 1964.
Mike re-located to Southern CA in 1965 and began his career in the insurance industry. He started working for Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company on June 6, 1966. Mike, a quiet man, worked for the “quiet company” for over 40 years until he retired to Spicewood in 2008. During that time, Mike became a certified financial planner. He also received numerous industry awards and recognitions. Mike’s clients were grateful for his expertise, dedication, and wise counsel. Many remained friends for decades.
Mike treasured his family. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis Ungerer, whom he married in 1994. He was the beloved father of Kelly Swartzel [m. Nik Petcov] and stepfather of Victoria Ashworth [m. Douglas Wolfson]. He was the beloved grandfather of Christopher Patchett [m. Sabdi Lucas], and Cooper and Elizabeth Wolfson. We will all miss him.
Mike was a humble, generous man of great integrity. He was respected by his peers, his clients, and those he mentored. He was loved by his family. And above all else, Mike was devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who he now gets to see face to face. We rejoice that he has been welcomed Home.
The family invites all community members to join them in remembering him. Services will be held on February 19, 2026 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Marble Falls, 901 La Ventana Dr, Marble Falls, TX. Please visit his memorial page at: https://everloved. com/life-of/michaelswartzel/ obituary/
