Billie Jean Barnes, 93, of Kingsland, Texas, formerly of O’Donnell, Texas, passed away January 15, 2021 due to complications with Covid-19.

Billie was born on December 21, 1927 in Dawson County, Texas to Van and Lola (Casey) McKee. She grew up in the O’Donnell area and graduated from O’Donnell High School. She attended beauty school in Lubbock, Texas.

Billie married Ike Barnes in 1947 and they lived, farmed, and raised their two children in the Wells Community and later moved into O’Donnell. In addition to farming, she worked as a beautician and at local cotton gins.

Billie moved to Kingsland, Texas to be near her daughter in 1994.

Billie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them swimming, teaching them to play Skip-Bo, shopping with them and making Barbie Doll clothes.

She was known for her fun and laughter and enjoyed her many friends in O’Donnell and they had many great times during their daily coffee ritual. She also loved playing bridge and tennis.

While in Kingsland, Billie enjoyed playing bingo and going shopping. She loved music and dancing and became famous for wearing sequined and wearing colorful caps.

She is survived by her daughter, Kerry McReynolds and husband Ron, of Kingsland, Texas; grandchildren, Kristy Fulton and husband Randy, of Frost, Texas, Keely Mires, of Murrietta, California, Kim McReynolds, of Dallas, Texas, David McReynolds and wife Melinda, of Midland, Texas; great-grandchildren, Baylor Fulton, Jordan McReynolds, Kambri Martinez, Kylee Hernandez; sisters, Linda McKee and Patsy Standefer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ike Barnes, son, Kelly Barnes, grandson, Cody McReynolds, and sister, Peggy Middleton.

Graveside funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at O’Donnell Cemetery in O’Donnell, Texas, observing all Covid-19 precautions. Jackie Stidham will be officiating the service. An online guest register can be signed and maps to the cemetery can be found at PutnamCares.com.
