Melissa Ware Rowe passed away September 2, 2020. She was born August 9, 1938 in Memphis, Tennessee to Donald M. and Inez Gooch Ware.

Melissa was raised in El Paso, Texas and attended UT El Paso where she was a Tri-Delta. After enjoying several years as a flight attendant, she attended Baylor Medical School and received her certification as an Ophthalmological Technician, specializing in children’s eye disorders.

After moving to Horseshoe Bay, she became very active in the community. She was a charter member of The Church at Horseshoe Bay, and enjoyed singing in the choir and serving on the Benevolence Committee. Melissa and her husband, Jim, were also charter members of the Hill Country Community Theatre, actively participating in productions.

She was also a charter member of the Bluebonnet Chorale and she enjoyed singing with the group throughout the Hill Country. She was also a member of PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization) Chapter IG and loved being involved in the good work they do with education for women.

When she and Jim could get away, they headed east where their sailboat “Abracadabra” was docked. They enjoyed sailing up and down the east coast and later eventually moved the boat to Florida where they spent many a happy February enjoying the sunshine and visiting friends.

Melissa is predeceased by her parents, her husband James G. Rowe III, her brother Don Ware, and her sisters Sally Ware Gist and Judy Ware DeWitt. She leaves behind her PEO Sisters, Tuesday Tarts and many friends who will miss her sparkling eyes and sunny smile.

If you would like to honor Melissa’s life, a donation to any of the organizations that were dear to her would be an appropriate and appreciated remembrance.
