William Don Holt Sr.

William Don Holt Sr. of Meadowlakes, Texas went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at the age of 88. After several months of declining health, Don died peacefully with his loving family by his side.

Don was born in Paris, Texas on June 5, 1932. He graduated from East Texas State College (which is now Texas A&M at Commerce) with a degree in commercial art and advertising. Don married his beautiful wife Dorothy Ann Oakes on August 18, 1953, just before Don entered the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. He was then off to Flying School. During those years they lived in 10 different states and 2 foreign countries and he roamed the world with more than a million air miles. Don is a decorated Vietnam War Veteran.

After retiring from the USAF as a Major, Don spent nine years as a Director at Arizona State University where he received his Master’s Degree in Business Education. He was completing his PHD when he was offered a job at Bayshore Hospital in Pasadena, Texas. He served there for fifteen years and moved on to the position of Senior Vice President with a new company, Dynacq International. Dynacq built a new hospital and professional building in Pasadena and over the past 12+ years the company has built two hospitals in China and a few more in the United States.

Prior to their move to Marble Falls several year ago, Don and his wife were very active in the Waters Road Church of Christ for almost 33 years in the Houston/ Pasadena area. Don taught many adult Bible classes while there. He was also a Rotarian and not only served as their President at one time, but was also very proud of his 39 years of perfect attendance at their meetings. Once in Marble Falls, he and his wife became active members at the Marble Falls Church of Christ. And he also joined the Marble Falls Rotary Club as a Rotarian.

Don is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann Oakes and two of his children and their spouses, William Don Holt, Jr. and Mary Ann, and Denise and Kent Karrick. He is also survived by two granddaughters and one grandson and their spouses, Lindsay and Nick Reasner, Victoria and Kris Reeves, and Thomas and Florita Nichols. And he is also survived by three great granddaughters and three great grandsons, Kaylee and Grant Reasner, and Avery, Alayna, Bowen and Blaine Reeves.

A private graveside service will be held with his loving family and his Celebration of Life will be held on a future date.
