On Saturday, Dec.18, the entire staff of the Granite Shoals Police Department gathered to hold its annual Christmas party and awards ceremony. Each year officers that have gone above and beyond expectation are recognized in front of their peers by command staff.

Joseph's Pantry, St. Frederick Baptist church to host Thanksgiving Saturday

Local entities are giving thanks by giving back to the community this holiday season. Joseph’s Food Pantry in Granite Shoals and St. Frederick Baptist Church in Marble Falls will be serving Thanksgiving meals for residents and visitors. Joseph’s Food Pantry is hosting the annual Joseph’s Feast of Thanksgiving on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Highland Lakes Elementary School.

What’s Christmas season without the spirit of giving? The Granite Shoals Police Department and the Granite Shoals Fire Department are holding Operation Fill the Boat. Their boats are out in front of their stations waiting to be filled with new unwrapped toys and gifts up to age 15.

With the clock ticking, Granite Shoals officials hired a consultant to direct a plan aimed at replacing the platform used by the city’s water meters before the technology becomes obsolete. The city’s current meter reading software – installed in 2015 – utilizes 3G technology to transmit output wirelessly.
