The Granite Shoals Police Officers Association is raising funds for another local first responder’s battle with cancer. “We ask a lot out of our community when it comes to helping us accomplish a goal or to help someone in need, but we’ve never been let down,” a recent social media post stated. “Llano County Precinct 3 Constable Bill Edwards served his country for 26 years in the United States Navy and has served the community of Kingsland for over 18 years as their Constable. We can’t think of a more deserving person to help out during their battle with cancer.”

Freddie Leal continues to live the American dream as he continues working for himself in his own construction company in Kingsland called General Construction Services. Leal, from San Benito just north of Brownsville, had worked for a company before deciding to go into business for himself.

At the end of the 13-mile march, 60-year-old U.S. Army veteran Dave Oxford described his effort as taxing but worth the message he and two others sent to the community, families of fallen service members and veterans.

A Cottonwood Shores woman has died after succumbing to her injuries following a motorcycle pursuit which ended in a crash on RM 2900 in Kingsland, according to the Llano County Sheriff’s Office. Farren Michelle Hawkins, 34, was the passenger on the motorcycle driven by 30-year-old Robert Lee Williams of Marble Falls, around 8:30 p.m.
