PEC launches SMS texting for emergency alerts

As part of Pedernales Electric Cooperative’s (PEC’s) commitment to keep members informed, the cooperative has launched a one-way emergency SMS (text) alert service. “The new system, allows PEC to send text messages to members’ mobile phones during emergency situations, including prolonged power interruptions and peak energy demand conditions,” said Mike Viesca, PEC executive vice president of public affairs.

PEC: 99 percent of power restored

Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) announced Friday morning that 99 percent of PEC members had power restored following Winter Storm Uri. Rotating service interruptions demanded by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which manages the state’s electrical grid, had also ended as of Friday.
