Developers of a planned multi-million dollar hotel/ conference center project have released a potential groundbreaking this year on a 123-room Tapestry by Hilton hotel, near the shoreline of Lake Marble Falls.

Marble Falls city officials signaled they would shift focus away from obtaining easements and upgrades in the Rocky Road subdivision and instead work to expand infrastructure with adjacent projects developing nearby.

The Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation has stepped up efforts to kindle a program which focuses on creating and retaining jobs in the trades, healthcare and administrative fields a viable option for local residents.

City officials approved going forward with acquiring $8 million in sales tax revenue bonds to pay for a number of parks improvement projects that include everything from a new crossing over Backbone Creek to a waterfall feature in Lake Marble Falls.

City leaders marveled at the potential for a hotel and conference center plan inching closer to coming to fruition as city council members began approving a series of documents Oct. 19 to solidify terms for a private-public partnership recommended by the Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation.

Marble Falls’ strong sales tax receipts in July are indicative of growth and rebound in all nine major industry sectors, according to numbers released by the Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation.
