Way back in the last century, the Highland Lakes Tourist Association started a Bluebonnet Craft Trail to encourage more tourism in the Hill Country. The first show was in August of 1968.

A recent birth on his Burnet County ranch took on a more special meaning for Carl Chambers, who holds dual citizenship with the Cherokee Nation through his grandmother. Burnet County is launching a program that could be at or near the cutting edge of mental health working with jail inmates. County commissioners on Tuesday approved an unpaid intern pro- gram that would put a mental health worker in the county jail to work with prisoners with mental health problems.
