The Kingsland School is celebrating not only the season but welcome additions to its campus at 2112 West Ranch Road 1431.

Crews have been hard at work building a new playground and an addition to house more classrooms, and recently the students and staff decked the halls with Christmas- themed artwork to celebrate parents’ night Dec. 14 as well as a visit by community supporters.

The Kingsland Chamber of Commerce honored the Kingsland School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that night.

The school, a public charter school and a member of the Georgetown- based Orenda Charter School District, offers tuition-free classes for kindergarten through grade 12, serving students from both Llano and Burnet counties.

It also offers college readiness curriculum. Students learn the academic fundamentals and are challenged individually as they set goals and interact with the world around them.

Orenda Education is also the not-for-profit sponsoring entity for the Orenda Charter School District, an “open- enrollment charter school” district. A charter school is a public school sponsored by a private not-for-profit. They are engaged through the use of appropriate technology, projects, and collaborative learning models to be prepared for college and careers upon graduation.

Orenda operates college preparatory schools, credit acceleration and residential facility schools.
