Former MFHS soccer coach repeats as coach of the year
Former Marble Falls High School boys soccer head coach Rick Hoover was voted the 2024 Re gion 8 Coach of the Year by the Texas High School Coaches Association. THSCA has the most members of any coaches association in the country.

Johnson City marksman earns national championship title
Briley Sralla and the Texas Hill Country shooting team captured the 2024 national title from the Civilian Marksmanship Program Three-Posi- tion Air Rifle Champion ships July 8-10. The three positions that are part of the competition are prone, standing and kneeling.

Golf camp triples size in second round of instruction
Hidden Falls Golf Course in Meadowlakes recently hosted two junior golf camps for local kiddos aged 7-17. For their June 4-6 camp, they had seven young golfers and most recently, for their July 9-11 camp, they tripled the camp size with 17 participants.

Rule change could influence electronic devices in dugouts
A rule change in softball may affect the way the pitching coach and the catcher communicate while their team is on defense beginning in 2025. That’s because the National Federation of State High School Associations announced July 8 it had approved one-way electronic communication in the dugout for the sport.

Mustangs get serious about high-energy workouts
Even in a midmorning workout with the Texas humidity causing drenches of sweat on the Marble Falls High School football players, the intensity didn’t dip. After spending more than an hour lifting and then participating in agility drills to get quicker as Marble Falls Forge ‘24 resumed, the Mustangs took a short water break and broke into three groups to work on defensive skills July 9.
