Dwindling shoreline attracting four-wheelers
During current drought, driving on LCRA-owned land in the lakebed is allowed as long as vehicles don’t cause public safety hazard or environmental impact. As the drought continues, the Lower Colorado River Authority will continue its long-standing practice of using its enforcement discretion to allow vehicles to drive across parts of the dry lakebed owned by LCRA, as long as the vehicles do not cause a public safety or environmental impact at Lake Buchanan.

Texas farmers concerned over growing trade war
Texas farmers are voicing growing concerns about tariffs being enacted by President Trump adversely affecting their ability to sell agricultural goods overseas, the Houston Chronicle reported. Texas Farm Bureau President Russell Boening said the tariffs could be especially tough on younger farmers.

Fired librarian accepts $225K settlement
A former Kingsland librarian will be paid $225,000 in a wrongful termination settlement following a year-long lawsuit against Llano County and the commissioners court, according to documents. The insurance arm of the Texas Association of Counties, of which the county is insured with, will pay the settlement.

Burn ban continues, despite wet weather
Even considering some recent rainfall, the Burnet County burn ban which began earlier this month has not been lifted, and it will stay on until further notice. “Most areas got about 1/2 to 1 inch of rain over the last two days, with a few spots getting a bit more,” County Judge Bryan Wilson said.
