The Marble Falls Parks and Recreation Department hosted a Family Camp Out on over the weekend in Johnson Park with features which inspired the outdoorsman in all of us.

One of the top attractions involved a visit by the Austin Reptile Show in which children handled several slithering creatures as well as learned about their habitats and behaviors.

The event also feature da movie in the park, kayak rentals and other activities.

Registration for the campout was required. Fees were $30 for early registration and $35 for day prior which reserves a 20-foot-by-20-foot campsite large enough for two tents.

Participants were treated to s’mores bundles, glow sticks and a complimentary breakfast Sunday.

Families checked-in Saturday afternoon and checked out by 11 a.m. the next morning.

Avenue J was closed during this event to ensure the safety of all participants and vendors.

Park crews coordinated several campfires throughout the park.
