Events offer variety for Fourth of July celebrations

Many events were canceled last year, but organizers have been hard at work preparing signficant comebacks on the July 4 weekend.

Kingsland AquaBoom

The largest Independence Day celebration in Llano and Burnet counties is Kingsland AquaBoom. This year the celebration returns inviting people to “Bring Back the BOOM!”

All of the fan favorite festivities are scheduled to return including live music and a fireworks show.

The fun starts on Friday, July 2 with the annual golf tournament at Legends Golf Course scheduled for a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

On Saturday, July 3 the poker run on the river goes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wakepoint LBJ. There will be an all-day arts and crafts show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1335 Ranch Road 1431 behind M&M Donuts.

The Kingsland Masonic Lodge, 900 Texas Street, will host the annual patriotic meal from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday concludes with the annual street dance with River Rat Revue from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

On Sunday, July 4, celebrate freedom and independence with three parades, a costume contest and fireworks.

Land parade staging and registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Children’s parade staging and registartion runs from 8 to 8:30 a.m. The children’s parade starts at 9 a.m. and the land parade follows at 10 a.m.

Registration for the patriotic costume contest starts at noon with the competition kicking off at 12:30 p.m.

The Motts return to Aquaboom for live music from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The boat parade starts at 6 p.m.

At 7 p.m., eight-time world champion wakeboarder Harley Clifford will perform in the WaterWorks Wakeboard Show just before nightfall when the fireworks begin.

Marble Falls Community Fireworks Celebration

The band and food vendors will be located at Lakeside Park, 305 Buena Vista Dr. Food vendors will be present from 6 to 10 p.m.

Live music will kick off on Lakeside Park Pavilion patio at 6 p.m. with Zeke Hamilton with Red Carpet Chaos taking the stage around 7:45 p.m.

Fireworks are scheduled to begin at approximately 9:15 p.m. and last 15 to 20 minutes. After the fireworks show ends, Red Carpet Chaos will come back on stage for at 15 minute encore.

Horseshoe Bay POA

The Horseshoe Bay Property Owner’s Association has ensured planning and preparation of the many details that will blossom to fruition on the morning of Independence Day for the benefit of the wonderful citizens of HSB and their families and friends.

The activities being planned include:

• The land parade, led by a flag-bearing Marble Falls VFW Honor Guard, scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.;

• The boat parade that will pass by the lakeshore side of the Quail Point Lodge at 10:30 a.m.;

• Children’s activities that begin at 10 a.m. which will feature balloon master, Jack Byrd a unanimous favorite of the kids, numerous face painting stations and other niceties for the young ones;

• A patriotic sit-down show featuring the singing of our National Anthem, the speeches and highlights of HSB’s history and growth, dance routines by the Wildflower Dance Troupe and music by the Highland Lakes Brass Quintet, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in the large Lake Room inside the Lodge; and

• An outside area to provide hot dogs, chips, watermelon, lemonade, ice-cold water and plenty of food and drink for the crowd to enjoy.

The event will be a celebration of the United States of America’s 245th birthday and Horseshoe Bay’s 50th birthday.

Horseshoe Bay Resort

Spend the weekend on Lake LBJ with watercraft rentals, at one of the many pools around property, tasting creative cuisine, listening to live music, golfing and playing giant yard games at Horseshoe Bay Resort’s Independence Day party.

The weekend strts with a complimentary concert from Love and Happiness on at the Tower Live Oak Lawn on Friday, July 2 at 8:30 p.m. and The Grooves on Saturday, July 3 at 8:30 p.m.

A resort tradition continues on July 4 with the annual fireworks display over Lake LBJ. Doors will open at 8 p.m. for lakeside cocktails and music from DJ Craig. The show will be broadcast live on 102.9 FM starting at 9:30 p.m.

Bertram

The Bertram Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring this year’s fireworks at the park. The event is scheduled to open at 7 p.m. at the baseball fields with fireworks planned to begin at dark.

Granite Shoals

The city of Granite Shoals will not host a fireworks display, but city officials are encouraging all residents to proudly display their American flags on July 4.
