Downtown businesses and the city of Marble Falls have coordinated a block party event for the April 8 solar eclipse.

Ms Lollipop's Parties Fun & Gifts, 208 Main Street, Main Event Co. and downtown merchants are inviting visitors and locals alike to the free party atmosphere and to "rock the block" to cele - brate the event. The eclipse is expected to begin at 12:17 p.m. and reach totality with an ex - pectation of total darkness around 1:30 p.m. and last a few minutes. (Find more details about the eclipse on Page 4).

Organizers are expect ing that residents as well as visitors and family and friends can shop even while experiencing the solar event and listening to the memorable rockin’ tunes from the talented entertainer Johnny Rogers.

Rogers and his wife Debbie will be on stage in the parking lot adjacent to Harmony Park at Third and Main.

Rogers’ show, free to the public, is an unabashed tribute to classic rock-n-roll artists such as Buddy Holly, Elvis Pres- ley and Roy Orbison; his wife, Debbie Rogers, also performs historic hits from songstresses such as Brenda Lee, Patsy Cline and Linda Ronstadt.

The crowds will enjoy and remember these epic moments with the great Johnny Rogers, and the once-in-a-lifetime viewing of the total solar eclipse in downtown Marble Falls. Also, Austin-based classic rock group Floyd & Co. will perform after Rogers. Performances will be in the parking lot of city hall at Third and Main Street. Rogers will play from about 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; The classic rock group will perform from around 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Arts and crafts vendors and downtown merchant booths will be located along the alleyway, closed to traffic, between Downtown Beer Hall and Double Horn Brewery.

There will be giveaways, according to the organizers, visitors will also be able to purchase T-shirts and souvenirs such as eclipse glasses and mugs and stickers to mark the block party event. Visitors will also see students with Arizona State University who will participate with eclipse science projects.

The block party not only inspires a good time but builds support for local businesses.
