UPDATE: Crews will close Third Street at 6 p.m. Today Friday, June 18, 2021 from Main Street Avenue to past Avenue J as well as a portion of Avenue J between Second and Third streets, according to organizers.
As temperatures approach triple digits on Saturday and Sunday, the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce is providing a way to beat the heat downtown.
The chamber has revived the Slide into Marble Falls event after it was canceled last year due to pandemic concerns.
The event features a 1,000-ft. waterslide down Third Street between Main and Avenue J. The downhill action is planned for 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 19 and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday June 20.
Two hour passes are $20 per person. All day passes are $40. Go to the community events link at marblefalls.org for tickets.
The National Weather Service is reporting sunny conditions “with a high near 96” on Saturday and “sunny and hot” conditions with a high near 99 and wind gusts as high as 20 mph on Sunday in Marble Falls.
