UPDATE: James Joseph Luckenbach, 33, was arrested Sept. 2 and charged with capital murder of multiple persons in the double homicide investigation. As of Sept 3, he remained in the Burnet County Jail without bond.

Burnet County Sheriff's investigators are sifting for clues at the scene of an alleged double homicide reported on Aug. 30 in a home in the Overlook Subdivision.

According to Chief Deputy Mike Cummings, a call came into dispatchers around 1 p.m. that day. Regarding “an unresponsive male and female” at the residence in the 600 block of Twisted Oak Dr.

“The incident is being investigated as a suspected homicide,” Cummings said. “There are two victims – a husband and a wife.”

The residence is in Burnet County, just off Texas 71, adjacent to the Horseshoe Bay city limits.

“It's a large property, so (investigators are) involved in searching the property.”

The identities of the 39-year-old woman and the 42-year-old man – described as the homeowners – are pending.

Cummings revealed “there was a firearm involved.”

“They've got some leads they're following up,” he said. “They have not identified a suspect/subject.”

He added that investigators do not believe there is a threat to the general public.

The deceased were transported to Travis County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy is pending.
