Frances Stuart O’Nan, 93, of Marble Falls, Texas passed away July 23, 2020. Frances, known to friends and family as Birdie, was born to Benjamin and Elizabeth (Begg) Stuart on October 26, 1926 in Lexington, Kentucky.

Birdie won many trophies as a competitive swimmer, worked for the Navy in New York City during World War II, later studied veterinary medicine at the University of Kentucky and volunteered working with animals at Marsalis Park Zoo in Dallas, Texas. Additionally, Birdie worked as a commercial photographer, founding the original Multiple Listing Service for real estate in Dallas/Ft Worth, Texas.

Active in the Oak Cliff Garden Club, and serving as its president, Birdie also found time to teach adults to read. Upon retirement to Marble Falls, Texas, Birdie enjoyed spending time with friends at the Marble Falls Seniors Center.

A groundbreaking businesswoman who served her community, Birdie simultaneously was an outstanding hostess who loved to entertain and share a laugh, and was a much loved, inspiring wife, mother, and grandmother.

Birdie is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth M.T. O’Nan, daughter in law, Linda O’Nan, grandsons, Jason O’Nan, Andrew O’Nan, her granddaughter, Elizabeth M.S. (Daisy) O’Nan, and five great grandsons.

Frances Stuart O’Nan was preceded in death by her husband, William Massey O’Nan, and her son, Benjamin Roud O’Nan.

Due to coronavirus dangers, there will be no service. Alternatively, please take a moment at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020 to commemorate Frances (Birdie) Stuart O’Nan.

Memorial contributions should be made to the charity of personal choice.
