As the engineering of a new city wastewater plant takes shape, Marble Falls city officials want to determine what potential reclamation options could factor into the design, including treated wastewater (effluent) for discharge and recapture in wells or possibly even converting it into drinking water. The city has obtained grant money as well as increase water/wastewater rates and expects to issue bonds to fund the bulk of a project to be relocated and doubled in capacity on land purchased adjacent to the back of the Walmart on U.S. 281.

The Marble Falls City Council adopted the 2021-21 budget Sept. 7 and set a public hearing date for a proposed a tax rate which councilors noted has been steadily lowered for the past six years. The council proposed a 59.90 cents per $100 property valuation rate, which is subject to a public hearing and final vote on Sept. 21.

The local school district and Marble Falls City Council agreed to partner June 15 to fund a full-time truancy court case manager with city staff reaching out to the county and other municipalities to contribute funds in the future.
