TDEM opens COVID-19 antibody infusion center in Burnet

Gov. Greg Abbott announced Sept. 30 that the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), in partnership with local officials, will open a new COVID-19 therapeutic infusion center in Burnet. The facility opens to the public Oct. 1 and has been provided with monoclonal antibodies to treat outpatient cases of COVID-19 with a doctor’s referral. This treatment is available at no cost to the patient. Local partners include Burnet County, Baylor Scott & White Health Hill Country and the city of Burnet.

Vaccine access expands to all adults

Beginning Monday, March 29, anyone age 16 and over wishing to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in Texas will be eligible to receive one, the Texas Department of State Health Services announced this week. DSHS officials said Tuesday they expect vaccine supplies to increase next week and pointed out how providers in multiple parts of the state have made great strides in vaccinating people in the current priority groups.

Residents of Burnet and Llano counties continue to wait for more of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to become available in the area as a scant existing supply is being directed first to front-line first responders, such as Marble Falls Fire Rescue Chief Russell Sander (pictured here), health care professionals, long-term care facility residents and the elderly or those with chronic health conditions.

Burnet County logs three virus deaths

Three more COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in Burnet County in the past two weeks, bringing to 15 the total number of county residents believed to have succumbed to the illness. More information was not available Thursday on the ages of those individuals or their cities of residence.
