Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy in connection with charred human remains found on a remote county road in northern Burnet County.

Someone driving by called it in,” BCSO Capt. Mike Sorenson told The Highlander.

The discovery was made in the evening on Christmas Day in the 900 block of County Road 203, just outside of the Lake Victor community.

The body had been burned,” Sorenson stated.

A preliminary assessment led authorities to believe the body, an adult female, may have been at the location for “a couple of hours.”

Details about the cause of death and how the body got to the location are pending.

As of now its not determined as to our position on death waiting on autopsy,” according to Sorenson. “The autopsy results will give us more to work with.”
