Incumbent HD-19 State Representative Ellen Troxclair held off her opponent Kyle Biedermann by 52.08% of the Republican primary vote to win the party nomination, according to Texas Secretary of State’s Office preliminary results.
The primary held March 5 took a contentious turn between Biedermann and Troxclair, as she touted experience and support from state leaders. Biedermann maintained his position as a hard line conservative on issues such as border security.
The district includes Blanco, Burnet, Gillespie, Kendall and part of Travis County.
As of March 7, election results showed that Troxclair received 20,763 (52.08%) to Biedermann’s 17,162 votes (43.05%); a third candidate, Manny Campos, received 1,942 votes (4.87%).
Biedermann previously served in the state house in HD-73 from 2017 to 2023.
Among Troxclair’s accomplishment after being elected in 2022, she served in the 88th Legislative session and subsequent special sessions on the Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee; Culture, Recreation, & Tourism Committee; House Select Committee on Community Safety; and Select Study Committee on Sustainable Property Tax Relief.
Troxclair will face Democrat Dwain Handley in the November general election. Handley received 2,318 votes (58.34%), results showed.
